Goal Maker: goals and daily tasks app
My own goals app: set a goal, give it tasks on the days you'll do them, and tick them off. Built solo, from first line of code to Google Play in two weeks. Live on Google Play and the web.
Overview
Goal Maker is my own app: “your companion to help you achieve your goals”. You set a goal, give it tasks on the days you’ll do them, with a start time and a length, and tick them off each day.
It is live on Google Play and on the web at goalmaker.app.
What I built
- From first line of code to Google Play in two weeks. I started it on 21 September 2026, and it went live on Google Play on 5 October 2026.
- No account needed. Goals are kept on the phone or in the browser. Signing in saves them to an account and keeps every device in step.
- Alarms at the start and end of each task, plus a start-of-day and an end-of-day notification.
- A streak for each task.
- One set of data rules shared by the app and the server, so both read the goals the same way.
- One codebase for iPhone, Android and the web, in React Native and Expo, on my own TypeScript and Fastify backend.
It was quick because it starts from the same base as my other apps: logins, admin screens, analytics and error reporting were already working.
