The cost to build a small business website depends on four things: how many pages it has, whether you’ll edit it yourself, whether it’s in more than one language, and what forms and connections it needs. I don’t publish prices, because no two sites need the same work. I look at what you need first, then quote. Once it’s built, running it costs little.

Below is what moves the cost to build, from small to large.

The pages and their content

A one-page site costs the least to build, and a few pages cost less than many. The content comes from you: the words, the photos, and what your business does. You know your business best, so you’re involved in every page, and without your content the site can’t be built. I guide you on what each page needs and how to put it, then build the pages around it.

Editing it yourself

If you’ll change the site yourself, it needs a CMS, which adds to the build. My preferred CMS is Sveltia CMS. It saves changes straight into the site’s files, so there’s no database or plugins to keep patched, and every change can be undone. See a website you can edit yourself without breaking it.

More than one language

Each extra language adds to the build: its pages, their translations, and the setup that tells search engines which pages are translations of which. See making your website multilingual.

Forms and connections

A contact form that emails you adds a little. Pulling listings or products from another system every day adds more. See connecting your CRM to your website.

From small to large

  • A one-page site.
  • A few pages, which I update when you need a change.
  • A site you edit yourself.
  • A site in more than one language, with listings or products pulled in from another system.

After it’s built

Running the site costs little. I build sites as static pages: files served straight to the browser. They load fast and cost little to host, and with no database or plugins behind them, there’s less to keep patched. You pay for the domain, the hosting, and any changes I make for you. I can host the site, or set it up on your own hosting.

How I quote

Tell me what your business does, the pages you need, and any site you’d like yours to be like. We go through it on a call, then I send the quote.
